The YORK YMC² is a water-cooled centrifugal chiller built around active magnetic-bearing compressor technology that eliminates oil lubrication entirely. The compressor floats on electronically controlled magnetic fields, removing the wear surfaces, oil pumps, oil separators and oil heaters that occupy maintenance cycles on conventional machines. With 80% fewer moving parts than a traditional centrifugal chiller, the machine's service footprint shrinks considerably.

The YMC² covers 165 to 1,000 TR (580–3,516 kW) and is suited to large commercial buildings, airport terminals, hotels, data-centre campuses and district cooling plant rooms in hot climates. A compact 8-foot shell option assists plant-room-constrained retrofits. Refrigerant options are HFC-134a or HFC-513A; a proprietary falling-film evaporator cuts charge by up to 30% versus conventional flooded designs and improves evaporator-side efficiency.

At full load the unit operates below 0.175 kW/ton; at part load it can achieve below 0.100 kW/ton — performance that directly translates to reduced electricity consumption over the cooling season. The machine maintains stable operation with entering condenser water temperatures as low as 30°F (16.7°C) below the leaving chilled-water setpoint, enabling low-lift free-cooling integration and early-morning cool-down savings. ISASecure® certification (IEC 62443-4-2 and 4-1) means the control system meets industrial cybersecurity standards relevant to managed critical-infrastructure sites. In the GCC, where chilled-water plant often runs year-round at heavy partial load, the flat part-load efficiency curve is a material operating-cost differentiator.
